Generic billing software treats a medicine as one product. A pharmacy knows better: the same SKU sits on the shelf in three batches at three expiry dates and sometimes three MRPs, Schedule H items cannot legally leave the counter without a prescription record, and stock that quietly ages into expiry is money burned. The store was running on a billing package that could not express any of that, so batch tracking lived in a notebook.

Inventory modelled at batch level from the ground up — every unit carries its batch number, expiry and MRP, and billing selects first-expiry-first-out by default so old stock clears before it becomes a write-off. The invoice prints the batch actually dispensed, which is what makes a recall actionable. Expiry alerts fire in 90/60/30-day tiers grouped by supplier so a single expiry return can be raised instead of a dozen. Schedule H and H1 billing is blocked server-side until the prescribing doctor, patient and prescription reference are captured, and the register is maintained in the format an inspection asks for. Reorder points are computed from real sales velocity against supplier lead time rather than a fixed minimum. WhatsApp Business API sends refill reminders to chronic-medication customers and delivers the bill as a PDF on the same thread.
